Hey Skyline! On December 20th, Skyline and Issaquah will be holding a joint WinterCon bill writing session! Drop by to write legislation with your favorite GPR chapters. If you're going to WinterCon, interested in writing a bill, and unsure how it all works, this is a great opportunity to learn and meet new friends!
The session will be held at Cindy's house at 23120 SE 27th way and it will start at 11:30 AM. Hope to see you there!

12/10/18: WINTERCON SCHOLARSHIPS AND LEADERSHIP
The PNW WinterCon scholarship application form is now open! Access using the button below (everything is also linked on our home page).
Additionally, Winter Congress grants students the unique opportunity to serve as either a party whip or a committee chair/vice chair!
As part of the mock congress simulation, delegates with great passion and the best speaking skills in the state will be selected to become Democratic or Republican whips - able to run around between committees to attack or defend bills related to their party's agenda. Whips enjoy several special privileges, including priority on subsequent speeches, an unparalleled level of influence and involvement, significant visibility and bragging rights, and the chance to test their debate skills at the very highest level.
On the other hand, chairs and vice chairs serve as moderators for each committee. While this requires some sacrifice - you will likely be unable to subsequent or speak on anything besides your own bill - it's a lot of fun and great experience in learning how to control a room! If you're more of a mod than a debater, consider choosing this route. You'll be in charge of managing a committee from the initial icebreakers to final legislation.
If either of these interests you, please fill out the appropriate application linked below!

11/27/18: WINTER CONGRESS ANNOUNCEMENT!
HELLO SKYLINE! Super excited to announce that our next state convention will be PNW JSA's Winter Congress.
Date: February 1-3
Location: Red Lion Jantzen Beach, Portland, OR
Cost: $320 per person (scholarships available)
Field trip forms are now linked on our home page under Winter Congress! Once again, unfortunately, we have an extremely tight turnaround for forms - these will be due on DECEMBER 7TH, 2018.
Unlike our other two major conventions, WinterCon is a mock congress, meaning that instead of just following our normal debate block structure, delegates have the opportunity to write and debate their own bills! Students will be separated into various Senate and House committees and experience a bit of what it's truly like to serve as a congressperson. Stay tuned - there will be more on bill writing and the WinterCon format to come!
Additionally, WinterCon takes place in Portland! It's the best opportunity to meet JSAers from Oregon and a lot of fun to travel as a chapter. It's also our longest convention (and my personal favorite). However, because of this, it's our most expensive con with a cost of $320. If money is a barrier, we HIGHLY recommend applying for a scholarship; PNW JSA is very generous, and I've never seen anyone in need be refused. The scholarship form will be posted as soon as it opens - continue to watch this page, our Facebook, the PNW Facebook, and our Instagram for WinterCon info and updates.
If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me or any board members at any time! We are happy to help and hope you'll consider attending - it's seriously so much fun, and a really unique experience in JSA.
